LOCAL SEASIDE TOWNS & BEACHES

Fowey (5 miles via Bodinnick ferry or 10 miles via Lostwithiel)

Take a trip from Bodinnick on the small car ferry to the quaint port of Fowey. Hire a self-drive motorboat or visit the shops and restaurants. You might prefer to drive around by road and head for Readymoney Cove, a safe, pedestrian accessed beach for children at the mouth of the river.

Talland Bay (8 miles)

Safe bathing beach with parking, café and toilets.

Polperro (10 miles)

Very popular and quaint old fishing village. Numerous good pubs! Very popular (crowded in peak season) - many interesting features, shops restaurants, boat trips, shark or mackerel fishing trips

Lantivet and Lantic Bays (4 miles)

Situated along the coast road from Bodinnick towards Polperro, Beaches are quiet and remote, only accessible on foot, across fields and National Trust land, but popular with some people because of their remoteness.

Par Sands (10 miles)

Large safe sandy beach with easy access, good parking. Adjacent Wild Fowl Lake, café, pub, etc.

Polkerris (12 miles)

Short distance from Par along Fowey road. Safe, sheltered, small beach with parking, café and pub.

Mevagissey (15 miles)

Picturesque old fishing village with good assortment of shops, restaurants, boat trips, etc.

Padstow (30 miles)

Interesting small fishing town - home of the famous "Obby Oss", Rick Stein's fish restaurant, Lobster Hatchery and popular with visitors and artists.

St Mawes and Roseland Peninsula (30 miles)

Lovely area, favoured by millionaires and yachting enthusiasts. If you like old churches, do not miss St Just in Roseland - the setting is exceptionally beautiful.
